Some seed fell into thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it produced no crop. ![]() Some seed fell on rocky ground where it found little soil and sprang up straightaway, because there was no depth of earth and when the sun came up it was scorched and, not having any roots, it withered away. Now it happened that, as he sowed, some of the seed fell on the edge of the path, and the birds came and ate it up. He taught them many things in parables, and in the course of his teaching he said to them, ‘Listen! Imagine a sower going out to sow. The people were all along the shore, at the water’s edge. Your justice I have proclaimed in the great assembly. My God, I delight in your law in the depth of my heart. In the scroll of the book it stands written that I should do your will. You do not ask for sacrifice and offerings, but an open ear. He put a new song into my mouth, praise of our God. I waited, I waited for the Lord and he stooped down to me he heard my cry. In this way we are all to come to unity in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God, until we become the perfect Man, fully mature with the fullness of Christ himself. To some, his gift was that they should be apostles to some, prophets to some, evangelists to some, pastors and teachers so that the saints together make a unity in the work of service, building up the body of Christ. Each one of us, however, has been given his own share of grace, given as Christ allotted it. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God who is Father of all, over all, through all and within all. There is one Body, one Spirit, just as you were all called into one and the same hope when you were called. Do all you can to preserve the unity of the Spirit by the peace that binds you together. Bear with one another charitably, in complete selflessness, gentleness and patience. I, the prisoner in the Lord, implore you to lead a life worthy of your vocation. Saint John Chrysostom, Bishop, Doctor First reading Ephesians 4:1-7,11-13- We are all to come to unity, fully mature in the knowledge of the Son of God
